Lesson 853: Look

 Happy weekend, Readers!

Eloise has been looking about this week,

and I've spotted some really great things!

Bigfoot!

Brilliant pink sky in the morning!

Beautiful pink sky at night!

Any foggy morning,

I grab my camera

and go look!

A Sunday drive
found Erik and I looking at this cow family.

The quieter moments of
the morning and evening are when I try to unwind.
Friend Jen got me into a relaxing new hobby--
birdwatching!

Look!

A bird!

She turned me onto the Merlin Bird app from Cornell labs!

Eloise highly recommends!

Behind every good thing
there is a great story.
For the background about the project CLICK HERE

This free app made possible by the National Science Foundation
and is based at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.

It helps you identify birds by sightings,

or by sound!

Weekend homework:
Get the Merlin Bird ID
on your phone, too!

Look!
A big bird!

Look!
My Amazon order has arrived!

Weekend Bonus Point Opportunity:

Eloise is teaching herself how to add beads
to embroidery,
like this.
I started with flowers,
but I do believe beaded birds
are in my future!

Have fun with the Merlin Bird ID app
Look (and Listen)!

Lesson 852: Land & Water

The summer solstice didn't only mark the longest day of the year

but one of the hottest!

Eloise celebrates summer

no matter what the thermometer reads.

When the land gets hot,

we seek the water.

By the lake,

and in the woods.

I have two high school classmates affiliated
with businesses that can meet your fancy
if you like both land and water
as Eloise does.

I went with Friend Jen to
Woods and River Coffee in Oil City.

It belongs to Harbor Creek 89'er,
Marcy Hall.

It has a clever menu
of drinks and breakfast sandwiches.

When Eloise goes out,
I usually pick something new and different.
I got the River Fog this morning!

It's the frothy thing in the blue mug.

Eloise highly recommends!

It was named for the river it sits next to.

The corner coffee shop has an outdoor seating area to enjoy the view

and plenty of indoor tables

surrounded by interesting artwork.

We left with a smile,
and two more house blends to go.

Not before swiping half of their hand pies

a bag of coffee beans
and a tee shirt.
I picked the blue one!

Congratulations, Marcy.
Good things happen to good people....
or maybe
Good things happen because of the hard work of good people.

The other new endeavor affiliated with a fellow Huskie
is Tour Erie!

The walking tour company,
operated by Heather Cass's daughters,
 Kelly and Lauren,
laced up its sneakers this week!

Eloise cannot wait to be a tourist
in her own city
and learn more about my land and water.
Best of luck, Ladies.
See you soon.

BIG NEWS! Tour Guide Lauren has been practicing and practicing and we are now ready to start booking for our first tour offering -- The Best of Erie's Bayfront -- starting THIS Sunday! Check the calendar for dates/times and book online, or email tourerie@gmail.com to reserve your spot if you'd rather pay in person with cash or check. We will add a second tour -- Eerie Ghosts, Legends and Lore Sunset Tour -- later this summer. https://www.toureriepa.com/

Tour Erie offers a variety of walking tours in and around Erie, Pennsylvania.

Another idea that's too good not to share:

As Eloise is always on a quest for balance,
I'll counter a good idea
with a bad one.

This is a special mention for the locals of Firman Road:
It is a very bad idea to come between
a farmer and his rescued 13 year old,
half deaf pitbull.
For those of you following the Dozer story
and have been as perplexed
by its many twists and turns this week,
here's a bit of good news--
Dozer is home!

Enjoy your weekend!
