Lesson 685: Light at the end of the Tunnel

February greetings from snowy little Harborcreek.

The cold and snow are still hanging around.

 Donkey has had enough.

I dug him out and gave him a pep talk,
February is more than half over.
There is light at the end of the tunnel.

While we are pounding out the back side of winter
we find things to do that we enjoy

even from a spectator's point of view.

There's light at the end of my big book tunnel.
I'm going to finish Pachinko this weekend.
It's a four generation saga.
It's a long, sad story,
but very good.

I'm going to read this one next

and after that,
The Tattooist of Auschwicz
based on friends' recommendations.

I really need to read
How to Stop the Begging Cycle.

You can see I tried that Tik Tok recipe
with the tomatoes and feta.
I used gluten free pasta and added some chicken.
It was very good.
Penny and Hazel approved!

I was on a late night pee session with the pups
and I realized my 50th birthday is in less than two weeks,
on a Wednesday,
during a pandemic.

A year and a half ago I had some more grand plans in mind,
but the 50 year milestone reached in any circumstance
is an accomplishment just the same.

I've decided double number birthdays
should really be given more attention.
Zero birthdays have become predictable.
I'm looking forward to Double Number Celebrations
of 55
66
77
88
and 99.

I consulted a very official website--
mybirthday.ninja

Not only do I turn 50 on a Wednesday,
but birthday ninja told me I was born on a Wednesday, too!

What day was my birthday Mar 3, 1971?

Cool Info NinjaMarch 3, 1971 was a Wednesday and it was the 62nd day of the year 1971. It was the 9th Wednesday of that year. The next time you can reuse your old 1971 calendar will be in 2021. Both calendars will be exactly the same! This is assuming you are not interested in the dates for Easter and other irregular holidays that are based on a lunisolar calendar.

Birthday Ninja also told me that I will be 240 years old in dog years,

and that birthdate in Roman Numerals looks like this:

III.III.MCMLXXI

I did learn that if I was a girl born in 1971 my name could very likely have been Jennifer--the popular girls' name of the year.

Eloise is very happy to let this birthday be in the low key keeping of pandemic style birthdays.  I'll think of something more clever for the Double 5's.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Eloise

Lesson 684: Frosty

Hello, Readers.

It's a frosty weekend here at the Lamp Post.

Erieites find homey comfort in the seemingly inhospitable.

Mr. Lamp Post finds his cozy on the couch.

The kids have finished sorting the David Dobrick puzzle.
You scan the code after completion
and you will find out if you won $100,000!

We really enjoyed the Super Bowl this year.
I could have told you by the Pop Luck purchases
that the Buccaneers would win.
They had the way better mix.

The best one was this one!

No bleachers to clean for this years masketball season.

Natalie gets her exercise every night.
Her artist of choice, as of late ,
is Lady GaGa.

The funny of the week goes to this mask reminder sign.

I accomplished my January diet related goal
for my commit 30 goal planner
with an 87% B.
It's how I measure progress best--
I convert everything to a letter grade.

For February I made a different promise to myself,
in keeping with my word of the year theme.

During the month of love,
I promised the words "I hate..."
would not cross my lips.

I've got to be near perfect the rest of the month
to pull an A.
Eloise spoke some slurs during the first week
while trying to form my new habit of restraint.
The tin foil toothy thing that rips the foil cut my finger,
and I lost the interent in the middle of something I was working on.
Apparently I h@+e those things.

The fewer times you speak hate,
the more room you have to find love.

Many of the Lamp Post readers loved the personality quiz
I posted last week.
I assigned it to my students this week.
If you missed it,

The results of a short quiz will reveal
your Creative type.
Yes, everyone is creative!

I decided to sort your responses as I would my students.
I used padlet.
If you are an educator and haven't made use of your free account,
contact me and I'll help you.

There were 8 columns so use the bottom bar to slide horizontally.
Dreamers and Visionaries dominated my responses.
When looking at those columns,
look for a vertical bar to the right of the lists of names.
It's shadowed and hard to see.
Slide it up and down to see the complete
list of the Readers who are most like me.
Who is the most like you?

Lesson 683: See the Creative

I see creative people out there!

Probably because I have my glasses on today,

which means I found them.

The are always lost.

I always have my lensed eye out for
the creative.

Snowmen from socks
help add some wintertime cheer.

Life in a northern town midwinter
cries for the creative to combat the bleak.

Reminds me of a song.

Sam is keeping us busy with a few basketball games.

Natalie is still waiting for her call-back to work
so she's been baking up a storm.
These local farm fresh eggs were almost to pretty to crack!

And Ellen is learning from home for another semester.
Today we played Who Wore it Better.
It was the third time they dressed alike unknowingly.

I got the dogs out for a walk on a blue-sky afternoon.

Those two pound pooches pulled me through icy divots and ruts.
I cursed myself for not taking someone along with me.
Sam had intended to but said he was too cold.
Probably because he was still in his pajamas
and wearing my women's size large unlined rain slicker.
Sam is a fashion plate.

We passed these two old friends playing with their airplanes.

#Foreveryoung

The dogs didn't eat the airplane
so I read them a story upon our return home.

They gave the story a thumbs up.
Got my gloves again this year!
Alpaca fur.
It's like crack.

I'm getting ready for my next book.
Any of you Readers out there read either of these?
Any good?

I got a clever life hack from the Happier podcast
by Gretchen Rubin.
A listener suggested a great way to sort through phone pictures.
Each day she pulls up her phone library and hits the search.
She types the date into the box, but not the year.

We get a trip down memory lane
and you can delete the junk pics as you go!

This is what came up for February 5th
from all the February 5th's since I've had my phone.

That middle photo of Sam was when he had his mystery illness last February.

Yesterday, on February 4th

this one popped up from two years ago.

That was after vomiting for 12 hours straight.

Methinks Sam needs to be very careful this February.

My student sent me this great personality test.
I really encourage you to take it!

Discover your creative type!

Everyone has a Creative Type. What’s yours?

The Creative Types test is an exploration of the many faces of the creative personality. Based in psychology research, the test assesses your basic habits and tendencies—how you think, how you act, how you see the world—to help you better understand who you are as a creative. Answer these 15 questions and you’ll gain a deeper understanding of your motivations, plus insight into how to maximize your natural gifts and face your challenges.

These personality types aren’t black-and-white labels. Think of them more as signposts pointing you toward your full creative potential. While there’s probably one core type that best describes you, you may change types at different points in your life and career, or even at different stages of the creative process. As a creative, you have a little bit of all eight Types inside you.

People are broken down into 8 creative types.

Meet Eloise, The Dreamer!

Please post your creative type under
my facebook blog post so I can see what you are!
I'm looking for an Innovator to partner with.

I'll see you next week.
Between now and then,
I'll be roaming my mental landscapes of my fantasy land.
