Lesson 648: Look At It This Way

Hello, Readers.
Eloise, here,
checking in on my last official school day.

The PA politicians just reported
that my county remains in the yellow.
Yellow is such a pretty color,

unless you Look At It This Way
Pa. lawmakers welcome plans to lift stay-at-home order; some say ...

Pa. lawmakers welcome plans to lift stay-at-home order; some say ...

The yellow light will most definitely
impact the upcoming school year,

leaving our school officials to
start some plans for what fall could look like.

 News like this,
as with all other news within our nation
offers up many viewpoints.

The Viewpoint is my favorite page of the newspaper every day.
I love to read about what people think.
I think it takes a fair degree of mental toughness
to withstand reading opinions of people as of late.

But still,
I do it.
It's important.

Being able to listen or read
the opinions of others
with an open mind,
without an immediate, inflammatory response,
is a skill to be honed and cultivated.
The flowers you reap from its
consistent practice will be beautiful.

I couldn't agree more. Unfortunately, too many people do nowadays. Trump & Republican supporters can dish out the criticism and hate, but they definitely can't take it. They also refuse to listen to reason and truth from legit news sources.

Yes, I watch the local and national news
and read the newspaper every day.
No,
Eloise is not a News Junkie.
I really like stories.

Shaking the truth out of stories
can fatiguing.

Adnan Sami on Twitter: "Thank you!😄… "

I can't breathe
can mean different things
to different people
depending on the way you look at it.

Eloise believes that people always learn the best through stories.
I'll share one of my favorites:

The giving tree : Silverstein, Shel : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive

This 1964 classic
is about a boy
and a tree that loves him unconditionally,
or is it?

‘The Giving Tree’: Tender Story of Unconditional Love or Disturbing Tale of Selfishness?

"The Giving Tree. Introduced my 5yo self to 'bittersweet' and thus the concept that 2 conflicting emotions can coexist in 1 feeling." -- @KatherineMemmel, via Twitter.

I want this as a tattoo "The Giving Tree" by Shel Silverstein

Eloise is working on her own tree stump,
from a very giving Ash Tree
that got eaten away at by the
insatiable Emerald Ash Borer.

We had to cut our beloved
tree house down this spring.
All that remains is her stump.

I landscaped it for my feral kitties chicken coop,
a gift from two colleagues,
one day intended for my chickens,
but currently houses my cat colony.

They really don't care much for their nosy neighbor.

I started my own carving
but nearly severed my left thumb in the process.
After I get the right tools,
I'll show you my handiwork.

If you've forgotten the story,
here is a read aloud version made for youtube.

Listen to the story
and think about how you interpret it.
Now,
challenge yourself
and see how someone could look at it differently.
