Hello, Readers.
I've been reading this book
by Arthur Brooks.
It is a collection of 33 of his articles
published in the Atlantic.
It's good.
You can tell by the number of book tabs
where I marked the good stuff.
If I'm reading non-fiction,
my aim is about ten pages a day.
Non-fiction is a slow-soak for me
and it allows time for my brain to take in
the new information.
I can read fiction books much faster.
In this section,
I read this selection on compliments.
I tabbed this as worth remembering.
In summary,
two-thirds of compliments are made of just
five adjectives:
nice,
good,
beautiful,
pretty,
and great.
Now that I've been made aware of that,
it's all I heard today at school.
It's all I heard myself saying.
It's all I saw myself type.
nice
good
beautiful
pretty
and
great.
All good words for sure,
but there are many which are better.
Let's try some out.
Stunning.
Reflective.
Polychromatic
Serene.
Soggy.
Festive.
Jolly.
Delectable.
Gentle friends.
In development.
Disheartening season.
Early flurry.
Shimmering.
Splendor.
Billowy.
Midday.
Fiery.
Gleaming.
Accomplished.
See you next week
under the light of the lamp post.
It will be easy to find the light,
since we have three more
to add to our collection!
Eloise
