Lesson 592: A Little Something

Hello, Readers.

Here's a little something to tide you over
until the waves of photos that will be taken
in the next few weeks.

Lamp Posters have two big birthday milestones
and three big graduations!

There is a ton of prep work to be done,
so I try to balance the long lists of To Dos
with some nice long walks with Hazel.

We're working on fetch.
I'm used to a lab, who didn't need to be taught,
but she's catching on.

She sniffs out EVERYTHING.
Here's a little something she discovered this week.

A killdeer and her chicks!

She'd chirp and call them in to hide under her wings.
Oh, to witness a mother's love!

Here's a big something:

Look at this fine fellow I found in the HC Community Park!

He likes to sit on the light pole between fields 3 and 4.

Isn't he something?

All but one of my feral cats survived the winter.

They come every morning and meow for me
until I come with a bucket of food

and a saucer of milk.

Lately they've taken up their cat morning meetings
on the trampoline.

Now isn't that something?

The Clark School tree is a nice shade of spring green,

which means the school year is nearing its end,
as well as my family's time at Clark School.
Sam will walk through the doors
ending the elementary school era.

Sam's buddy Jake left him a little something
to remember a hard line drive hit right back to the pitcher.

A nice bruise on his left bicep.

For the last five years I've been conducting an experiment.
Will the front porch robins return
to put a nest on top of last year's nest?
Apparently so!

I think I count four little somethings in there!

The spring has been wet.
The outfielders were wondering who the creepy guy was
watching from the tractor.

Just the hubby.
He got the tractor stuck in the mud.

Little somethings make me the happiest.
Dandelions gone to seed
in the tall, green grass.

Red winged blackbirds.

Pink flowers

New favorite kid snacks.

And a really good book.
(It's my first Western!)

My favorite little something of the week
is Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber's new song
I Don't Care.
The song gets a 10 out of 10 for Eloise.
I was not expecting this video,
but I just love it.

Pile up your little somethings this weekend.
See you next week.
Eloise
XOXO

Lesson 591: Prom Squad

It's that Night of Nights
for the high schoolers.

It's Prom Night in Erie
and 11 in all,
so is the rumor.
Oh, the poor restaurant servers!

Prom Prep starts at least a day prior.
With so many Proms on the same night
there was a long and winding line
at the local tuxedo shops
as impatient young men
waited for uncomfortable neckties
and squeaky shoes.

Ellen Louise started her Prom Prep day out in a good way!
She was one of two recipients
for the Harbor Creek Education Association Scholarship!

The hair.
The make up.
The nails.
The shoes.
The flowers.
The jewelry.
The dinner plans.
The after plans.
The whole shebang.

It's worth it.
Making memories is always worth it.

The parents and I reminisced about our own Prom memories
made 30 years ago this weekend.

Flashbacks are fun come Prom time!

Neighbor Amy with my girls
on her way to her Prom.

Neighbor Amy and my girls now.

Prom means time for family photos,

and a little brother who loves to photo bomb.

Prom is a time for best friends.

and crooked corsages.

I titled the photo of this Prom Squad
Herding Cats.
The gutter and the black pole still showed!

We parents know that you'll remember days like these
for a long, long time,
so we're at the ready to help
capture those memories.

Have a fun night kids.
See you at the crack of dawn.
Be safe,
and watch for deer.

Lesson 590: Can I Hear an Amen!

Hello, Readers!
It's the weekend!
Can I hear an Amen?!

There are so many big problems in the world,
sometimes you just have to look for the little things
that bring joy and say Amen to those.

The world is a lovely shade of spring green.

This robin rested long enough on the woodpile
for me to snap a picture.

And the Good Lord has sent us lots of rain!

Not so great for the light colored baseball pants
but Shout extra strength is doing quite a good job.

The Sheetz shirts were a flop.
The store closed anyway.
Probably because the shirts came in a day late.

Tim McGraw turned 52!
Amen to that!

Hazel cannot climb ladders.

The feral cats say Amen to that!

I feel a turf war coming--
Summer 2019.
Stay tuned.

These boxcars on a passing train had no graffiti!

It's outdoor play weather!

Appreciating the small joys in the world
does not mean you need to stay silent
about its bleeding wounds.

I spent a lovely evening
watching a play written about this woman,
Sister Joan Chittister.
What an amazing story!
A more amazing advocate.

We watched.
She spoke.
We applauded.
 Eloise bought books.

Amen!

The biggest Amen of the week
was the story of these two Florida teens,
who skipped school to head to the beach.
They got swept 2 miles out into the ocean by a current.
After hours of treading water with no rescue,
all they could do was pray.

Prayers answered.
This was the rescue boat that drove by and rescued them.

Have a great weekend.
