Lesson 722: A Quiet Night

 Hi, Readers.

My forest friends and I are getting ready for colder weather.

After the week we had,

you wouldn't think it was coming.

The tree at the base of Clark School is now naked,
so we know that time is upon us.

The winds came and knocked her leaves off.

I read anything,
but I'm a stickler about reading the right book
at the right time.
This means no Christmas books in July.

I suppose that's why I started this one today.
The cover made me think of Thanksgiving
with the wheat.

I started this one on November 9th
and I was so glad!

It was quite a story
which I promptly finished on November 10th.
It was also my first Colleen Hoover book,
and it will not be my last.

The moon has been fabulous over the past week.
The sky looked like this on November 8th.

The little twinkle is actually Venus,
according to friend Jason.

Here is the close up of the moon.

Look what happened when I zoomed Venus!

We went out to support the girls volleyball team this week.

It was America night.
Can you spot Sam in the student section?

He can always sense when I have my lens on him.

My favorite kid shot of the week though,
goes to my student Emma.
She was noting satellite passes near us
for our next meeting on November 18th.

It's the first Friday night we've been home
without a football game since the end of August.
It's a quiet night here at the Lamp Post.
My guys are passed out on couches,
so that gives Natalie and I the run of the remote.

We're cutting out early to watch back episodes of Pioneer Woman.
I have a feeling there will be some cooking on the agenda
for tomorrow.

See you next week!

Lesson 721: Odyssey

Good evening, Readers.
The light is on at the Lamp Post.
I'm glad you came inside to find rest
from your long and eventful journey.

Mother Nature painted the trees in the park
with golden touches as we enter November.

The winds swirled the falling leaves.

I found these cute fall drawings,
and if this one doesn't remind me
exactly of my shy little Ellen  when she was younger,
I don't know what does.
She had a hat just like this one.

The wind brought in the rains, too.

We spied our new friend Belle
checking out the puddles in the park.

Halloween night cleared up just in time,
and the kids had some long overdue fun.

The Sheriff

and her sidekick wore
their pink cowgirl hats as they stuck their heads
out the van windows.

They played tug with Penny's costume
so it was shredded by the time we started,
but they were cute, just the same.

I'm putting away the decorations this weekend,
including the 8 Halloween cards my mother sent us.
One for each, including the dogs,
and an extra just because she liked it.

The freshman football journey is wrapping up.
They boys played their last JV game last weekend.
The team gathered in the end zone,
not to celebrate a victory,
but to create a positive vibe
for their injured teammate.

Speedy healing, Hayden.

We said goodbye to the toaster this week.
The 2012 Chrystler Town and Country
we bought from my parents six years ago has served our family well.
It's been sitting on this plot of land for the last 9 years.
I named her the toaster because she looked
exactly like our toaster.
It even had sunroof for the toast to pop out of.

Our people mover has taken on a more modern look.
Sleek and sharp,

with the little fin on top
made it the perfect vehicle for our family.

So, what did Eloise name this one?
The Honda Odyssey represents this:

odyssey
/ˈädəsē/
noun
  1. a long and eventful or adventurous journey or experience.

It's our vehicle of the modern age--
so what else could be more fitting than
The Shuttle.
The space shuttle has a fin, too.

The next part of my long and eventful journey for tonight is bed.

Goodnight, Readers.
Eloise

Lesson 720: Haepi Haeliwin

 Haepi Haeliwin, Readers!

Your greeting is written in phonetic transcription.

Lamppost Princess Ellen Louise

is studying to be a speech therapist.

Check out her ghost shirt.

I learned how all the Halloween words looked

written this way.

She painted her pumpkins at home.

The speech department at Edinboro held a Trunk or Treat

last night.  Her car truck turned out so cute!

We'll have a phonetically sorted blog tonight

in honor of the phonetics class.

Weekend Quiz:

Let's see how many you can read.

Let me know your quiz score.

1.  PrITEE

The leaves sure are pretty.

They finally hit their peak.

2.  hORs

Fall is my favorite backdrop for  my neighbor's horses.

3.  KOHzee

We've been making some cozy changes to the Lamp Post.
Some paint,
some new lights,

and new cabinet hardware
have really spruced things up.

4.  flOR

Once again,
Eloise is having trouble with colors.
The cabinets and countertop are staying.
The appliances are chrome.
Input welcomed on the floor.

These are two of the Sam's Club choices,
and neither seems right.

5.  nAYchUR

The water droplets on the underside of this leaf
were stunning.

6.  dAHg

This is how my two nincompoops like to ride in the car.
We took them to the away football game last Saturday
in Greenville.

7.  PuPEE
They can't wait to meet their new puppy friend, Belle Rocky.

8.  buk

My dogs aren't well behaved while driving the highway,
so I sat in the back seat and read this book.

It even has a map in it!

9.  sUHn

Sam is fun for nicknames.
Samson,
Slammy,
and Samstring
are a few of my personal favorites.

Now we just call him
Ringworm.

That's what it looks like if you haven't seen it before.

You treat it with this

and keep it covered.
That's it.

10.  gud nEIt

Good night, Readers.
Have a great weekend.
Eloise
