Lesson 562: Yellow Brick Road

Hello, Readers.
Eloise and Erik are taking a weekend stroll
down the yellow brick road.

Well,
it's not exactly yellow brick--
it's the cement path around the
Harborcreek Community Park,

but my Questies and I have been studying
the Wonderful Wizard of Oz novel,
and it's been on my mind.

Helen was very inspired by Wizard of Oz especially with the depression and the annulment and loss of Arthur

The path is still yellow though--
carpeted with beautiful golden leaves.

The woods were so pretty,
we called our Photographer Friend Robb Frost
to come and take some photos.

We've delved deep into the meaning of The Wizard of Oz,
and it is truly a hero's story.
Eloise highly recommends it
if you have never read the book.
The true meaning of the story is so much clearer
if you read it.

You've always had the power my dear you just had to learn it for yourself

One little correction here--
the shoes in the original story were silver.

One of the most important things we learned from the story
is that
journeys aren't meant to be traveled alone.

The Wizard of Oz (1939) - For its time, a cinematic revelation in special effects.

You need a trusted squad

and a little dog, too!

The leaves fell more rapidly the last few days
because of the wind and the rain.

This is the sky view at the Clark School hilltop
early one morning this week.
These photos aren't filtered.

It was sunny to the south,
and heavy cloud cover to the north.
It made for an incredible site for a few seconds.

We are so fortunate to live in a school district
that is so supportive of the arts.

As we've learned throughout history,
when there is death to the arts,
so goes the city.

I loved these signs that lined the music hallway
to recognize the band members
before their final performance of the season.

I'm glad so many of my students
have found their home in music.

Our yellow brick road led us to the man behind the curtain tonight--
Puppy Whisperer Mike Amann.

Hazel, Sister Opal, and Friend Lucy

attended their first Puppy Boot Camp session.

Image may contain: 4 people, including Karen Overdorff Groshek, Karen Steele Beebe and Eloise Hawking, people smiling, people standing and dog

We are working on "sit" and "stay" this week.
It took a few tries,

but she's getting the hang of it.

So true

Opal listened hard,

then tuckered out.

So did Lucy.

Not. Hazel.

And of course,
Opal left the store with a new sweater.

We'll end tonight's post with a little Oz humor.

Have a great weekend.
Eloise
