Happy Late July evening, Readers!
Let's make a little magic under the light of the Lamp Post.
Eloise spent last Sunday morning at church

When I think of Godmother,
I automatically picture the Fairy Godmother
from Cinderella.
I think I fit the qualifications well.
Now all I need is a wand.
There's a funny BuzzFeed about Cinderella's Fairy Godmother.
I won't link it to this blog because it has too many bad words
and Mrs. Eloise has too many young readers.
But in a nutshell,
the writer said Cinderella's Fairy Godmother stinks.
She has bad timing,
loses her wand in her sleeve,
and basically doesn't come through
at the moments Cinderella really needs her the most.
I think a Fairy Godmother is a guide for life.
An encourager.
A shoulder to cry on.
A Fairy Godmother is not a Fixer.
She doesn't swoop in and make everything ok
every time something goes wrong.
What is there to be learned from that?
They remind of this very important fact:
A Fairy Godmother didn't swoop in
and save Sam's team from a very frustrating loss
in the State Little League Tournament

Fairy Godmothers know that there is much to be learned
in both struggle and defeat.
in both struggle and defeat.
Upon our return home,
Sam had a pretty down day
thinking about what could have been,
but 12 year old boys are pretty darn resilient
if you get them moving and refocused.
I've applied for Fairy Godmother status
and I'm hoping that I'm granted the ability to fly.
I'd love to just zoom through space and time
and pop in whenever I am needed the most.
If I had those powers on Wednesday,
I would certainly have helped Grandpa.
Grandpa versus the Wasps
12 stings made the old guy a tad bit vengeful.

I asked if I could have the hive to photograph after
he sprayed it and knocked it down.
The larva were still wiggling!
Grandpa told me to toss it in the burner,
but I just couldn't bring myself to do it.
People living near the Clark Road side of the park--
my apologies but I had to give nature a chance,
because nature is perfectly imperfect.
this afternoon.
It actually dropped this juicy morsel
before it made it to the nest.
Oh my, was it mad!
It was probably calling for its Fairy Godmother.
Enjoy this beautiful time of late July.
Check out the fireflies!
They are abundant in Erie, PA this summer.
Here is a neat video from National Geographic about
the Fireflies in the Smoky Mountain National Park
where my tribe vacationed last month.
Would it surprise you at all
if I told you that when I was little,
I used to think those were all the wands
of little tiny Fairy Godmothers?
#truth.
