Hello, Readers!
It's the start of a beautiful summer weekend and
Eloise is a happy camper.
We have a few things to be happy about,
and one of them is sipping front porch coffee
from my new mug from Friend Wendy.
We let out a collective exhale
when we received word that Sam's test came back
with these prayed for words,
No COVID detected.
It was a long, worrisome
eight days.
Sam was very sick for two days,
and spent two more
couching it and eating toast.
The rest of the days
he spent pretty much recovered
self-quarantined on our property until the test result came back.
Little Emma next door
walked her little legs
over the bridge to see her trampoline buddy.
But all Sam could do was wave through the glass,
and a sad little Emma had to be turned away
from the big bounces he gives her on the trampoline.
Sam spent the rest of the week
flying solo on his trampoline.
I called it his playpen.
His 2019 self-start up business,
Sam's Services
was a bust this summer,
and he was down on his luck,
looking for work.
Grandma and Grandpa found a good job for him
to occupy his time.
Glad Sam got some practice painting,
because we've finally chose an color
for our cabin in the woods.
The dark horse third party candidate won!
Green!
This was as much as the sample would allow for painting.
Greenbriar green
trimmed in Desert Wood.
We should have it done this week!
I was hesitant on green at first
simply because it's hard to compete
with green's natural beauty.
Thank you to all those who
suggested it.
You were right!
While Ellen painted,
Sam played the role of gopher for his father.
Sam played the role of gopher for his father.
Go get me my hammer, Sam.
Sam, go get me another piece of knotty pine.
Sam, FIND MY MEASURING TAPE!
The measuring tape while on a building project
gets lost about as much as the scotch tape does
when wrapping Christmas presents.
Sam also offered us some much needed
comic relief.
When we asked him to find the Rookwood Red paint sample,
he said all he could find was Satan paint,
and really didn't think that would be a good color for the door.
That's SATIN paint, Sam.
After about the fifth trip of delivering boards of knotty pine,
he asked us what type of tree the wood came from.
We told him Walnut
and he replied,
Oh, that's weird.
Natalie--
well, she's adjusting to her new space,
so she hasn't been a tremendous help,
but tested out the rocking chair
and now has claimed the chair as hers.
Slow transitions are always the key for people with autism.
Now---
what color for the door?
Just kidding,
we picked one.
Check back next week to see it.
I snapped this sweet photo of Ellen
and Cousin Jack
as he showed her his Pittsburgh apartment.
As college students,
both have so many unanswered questions
about the upcoming semester.
We did talk about this great new show on Netflix.
If you haven't caught an episode of
Down to Earth yet,
please do!
It's wonderful.
Be safe.
Be well.
Take care of the earth,
and most importantly,
take care of one another.
Eloise
