Lesson 975: Fame

Hello, Readers!

We had a frosty outfield north of the Lamp post this week.

The first frost is so pretty.

                                                            On that morning every year,

excited by the evidence of change,

I dash outside with my camera for the captures.

My claim to fame is getting lost in the little moments-

and  I forget to start my car to melt the windshield,

making me (almost) late for work.

Coming in behind the buses counts as on time.

See, I made it!

Here is the view of the lake

from the Clark School parking lot,

in all the fall splendor.

As most of my gardens are going to seed,

I have a few new blooms!
This little spindly guy
greeted me when I got home from work.

It's been unseasonably warm and beautiful in Erie!

My end goal is to get this last one in the pot to bloom.
Its claim to fame will be
The Last Bloom of Fall.

Truly, I know I have no real hand in things.
Everything blooms in its own time.

I love the Halloween,
but I am also famous for being a bit spooky.

This is about as scary as I like:

Grandma is famous for playing tricks.
Perhaps this is why she tried to spook me
with these ghosts.

Hazel wasn't having it.
She looked,
and it's just her little boy statue
wearing his Halloween costume!

He's a spooky little kitten
who made her way into Anna's heart.
Meet College Cat, Mabel!

We're famous for making the lives of our pets
quite luxurious.
Gus sleeps with his pink monkey.

Last weekend we went to
this famous restaurant in Buffalo!
It is worth the trip if you like
Italian food!
Great suggestion, Nicole.

After a bite to eat
we found our way to the new Bills Stadium!

We loved the incorporated art and history of the Buffalo Bills.
Blessing Hancock captured
the spirit of Buffalo.

Here is the link to her website
to view more of her work.

I love the circle of fame!

The pillars include a select group of legends,
and have some empty ones saved for future greatness.

I love this one for The Bills Mafia!

After we saw the stadium grounds,
we walked across the street to the Bills Shop.

I said hi to poster Josh Allen,

and fell in love with the Billustration!

This book is 100% headed to my Shelf of Fame,
as one of my favorite books ever.

I've halted all of my other books
I'm simultaneously reading,
Harry and Hermione can work on their spells in  Hogwarts without me.
Coromon Strike and Robin can consult with me later on their crime solving.
I'll pick up right where I left off
when I get back to them,
much like reconnecting with old friends.

I'll be focusing my reading effort
on the story of Birdie and Meg.
That's when I KNOW a book is a Hall of Famer.

Speaking of Hall of Fame,
Tim McGraw made it into the Country Music one.

The BEST story I found this week
is that of Heidi and Carole.
Middle school teacher Heidi,
originally from Buffalo,
moved to California for a fresh start in August.
She is kept awake at night from loud sounds
from her upstairs neighbor.
Meet Carole--
a 87 year old with Parkinson's.

I highly recommend following Heidi
on Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok.
Go back to her first post about Carole--with an e,
and work your way backwards.
Make sure you have Kleenex nearby.

To hear Heidi's friendly Buffalo inflections,
with Carole's articulate words
iced thickly with a British accent

It will restore your faith in human kindness.
Here is the address if you would like to send
a card to Carole and Heidi.
Here at the Lamp Post
we understand the importance
of fun, surprise mail!

Natalie will be mailing hers out in the morning!

Have a nice weekend,
Eloise
