Lesson 444: Long Range Planning

A warm hello from the Lamp Post tonight!

We're having a beauty of a week here on the north coast

making up for some frightening weather along our southern shores.

Miss Palm Gets a Shampoo and Blow Dry, Before Her Big DATE ! (Date Palm, Get it?) LOL:

The growing-up kids had fun at the Homecoming Dance last weekend.

I don't know who had more fun--
the kids or the parents sending them off.

It truly does take a village to raise a child.
We all are stakeholders in the success of our children.

These teens have a few more years of high school yet.
There is talk every day in schools about the future
and long range plans.

It's never too early to make plans for the future.

Kids go from this

to this

in a blink of an eye.

Do you long term plan, Readers?

Because you can never go wrong with too many emergency snacks:

A little more than this,
I mean.

I'm making some long range plans for the fall harvest.
Squash soup is on the menu this weekend

along with some stuffed peppers!

The golf balls are getting caged up
readying themselves for a winter's rest.

The firewood is getting stacked up,
readying for warming up Eloise's frozen crooked feet.

Goals are good things.
My daruma doll reminds me of that every day.

You have to plan for the steps to achieve your goal, though,
or they just won't materialize.

To achieve your goals, a few steps are important. The components of a SMART goal are outlined here, along with an example of a long term SMART goal.:

If you're looking for something fun to put on the calendar for 2017,
sign up for Barber Beast on the Bay
and trek the peninsula with my team.
There is a discounted rate for the first 200 people to sign up.
Take advantage of it.

Join Erie's most eclectic bunch of fun-loving wellness junkies,
and make getting healthy your goal.

Eloise loves finding things.
It's my personal goal to find a juvenile Sasquatch
and make peace with it.
Friend Angie sent me this to keep my Rolling Rock cold
while I go hunting.
Thanks, Angie!

It's always a good thing to put something fun on the calendar to look forward to.

Eloise is going to see Tim McGraw in Cleveland next summer!

August 17th, to be exact.
I'd like for you to come and join me.
We will turn this country concert into an event!
We'll start making arrangements soon.
He's also in nearby Buffalo at the end of October.
It may very well be a double scoop of Handsome in 2017.

It truly is a double scoop as his wife Faith Hill is touring with him.
Not all ice cream is my favorite flavor,
but it should be a great show just the same.

Eloise can be kind of like the wind,

and without some long range plans written on the calendar
I can be a bit drifty.

(a BIT!?!?!, so says Hubby.....)

Speaking of the wind--
you certainly don't want to be down wind from this Oregon Duck
after football practice.
It is son Sam's favorite thing to smear his sweat on people
disguised as a hug.

Long range planning is good,
but thinking too much about the future can make one anxious.
