Lesson 529: Let There Be Light!

Hoppy Easter weekend, Readers!

We are living life with light here at the Lamp Post.

The sun came out today.
This daffodil looks anxious to get outside,
but with the mercury reading 36,
I told her
don't rush it.

We still had a good layer of snow in some areas,
and as the temperatures warmed above freezing,
we got quite a bit of rain

followed by a lot of fog.
Eloise's first stop on a foggy morning--
South Harborcreek United Methodist Church.

There's a cemetery just wanting to be photographed
on the hilltop just above the church.

The old gravestones look so neat in the fog.

This squirrel didn't seem too bothered by my presence.

Typewriter Series #593 by Tyler Knott Gregson - Let there be light and let it always find a way to find me. Bathe me, cover me, surround me, and paint me when I feel my color has gone. #poetry #words

I almost missed a great capture of an immature eagle
spotted on my road.
I didn't have my camera with me,
but a quick phone call to neighbor Laura,
and she got this one.
Be on the look out for him neighbors!
He likes to sit on top of telephone poles and rooftops.

The highlight of the week was Sam's 11th birthday.

Every boy needs a pair of inflatable boxing gloves.
Thanks, Grandma and Grandpa.

He got a red bike to match, too.
Our tall guy had to move up to a 26 inch.

The spotlight of the week goes to Hubby--
he won another big bowling tournament.
That's two wins in two weeks!

Sam tried to place in the state tournament at Sunset Lanes
in Farrell, PA

My big, little guy fell a couple of spots short of his goal,
but that didn't stop me from trying to find something interesting to photograph.

There are still some brick streets in Farrell.

And to fit nicely with the "light"theme of this week's blog-
they happened to have a Golden Dawn.
I didn't think there were any left!

About the most interesting thing in Farrell is this giant can of beer.

Even with a loss for Sam,
we always try to look on the bright side.
The bright side is where the light is.

Light.
It's a good thing.
I love finding ways to capture it with my B Quality camera.

Light makes everything look prettier.
This is a photograph of a flooded pothole in the
Iroquois Elementary parking lot.

This is the science experiment my students and I are working on.
I'm hoping it will show them how all living things need light.
Light is food for our soul
just as it is food for a plant.

Our quest for light should also be unstoppable.

We had a strong desire to try some
egg dying different ways this holiday.

We went for the shaving cream and food coloring technique.

No Pinterest Fail, here!
It worked!

Well,
they all worked for the most part.
Resident Artist Ellen Louise
got a little too creative with the color mixing,
and a few turned turd brown
with hints of avocado.

But, as with any artist,
she redeemed herself.
Here is a sneak peek at what I will maintain is
her best work yet.
This masterpiece will be revealed on Easter Sunday.

Leonardo Da Vinci Quote

Daily exposure to the light
is important for
mental,
physical,
and spiritual health.

There are many ways you can find the light--
through the sun,
through relationships,
through laughter,
through nature,
through song.

Genesis 1:3, Today I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, let me just say it's the absolute best thing I could've done for myself and it's such an awesome way to start off my new year. ❤

Check out this video by my favorite Christian band,
Third Day.
I chose some of my favorite photos
that focused on light,
and set them to the very appropriate song,
Let There Be Light.

Find your light this weekend, Readers.
It's never out of reach.

Lesson 528: On Top of the World

Oh, Sammy!
You're feeling On Top of the World today,
as you turn 11.

You were born right on time--
3:27 on 3-27.

A beautiful baby,

grew into a terror of a toddler,

a precocious pre-schooler,

and softened by school-aged.

You love sports more than any person I know.

The friendships you've gained

and the lessons learned

are shaping you into a champion.

Your love for your family is fierce.

And your nature is genuine and true.

We couldn't be more proud you are ours, Sam.
For this reason,
I'm On Top of the World today,
remembering the special moment that you entered this world
11 years ago.

Happy Birthday!
Enjoy your birthday song!

Lesson 527: Pajama Game

I've got a Pajama Game going on at the Lamp Post.
My mornings start early,
lately around 4:00 am.

It's when I make time to work on my grad class homework.
Sounds nauseating, doesn't it?
I'm sharpest in the morning,
so I have to capitalize on my natural morning energy.
I can get twice as much done.

In the evenings, you'll find Eloise very tired.
The weather is still so cold.
It's still polar fleece pajama bottom weather
in northwestern Pennsylvania.

I've tried to stay inspired and hoof it outside with my camera every day.
The most exciting thing I could find was this snow pile

...until, however,
these guys walked by!

Grandma with her keen eye
counted 12!

It's been a long winter
and the deer are looking for food.
My husband asked me last week
if Christmas was last winter or this winter.

The winter has been hardest on poor, old Josie!
Our 13 1/2 old best friend
has had a heck of a time getting
in and out
and across the icy driveway
and lumpy, bumpy yards.

Maybe it will finally melt this week,
God bless America!

The next warm up may cause some sap to run again.

We bring fresh flowers into our home to fight the winter blahs.

These tulips gaze out the window at their plant friends,
fighting hard to make an early spring showing.

These daffodils helped add a golden glow to hubby's newest trophy.

He finally scored the big win at a tournament last weekend.

I sure did love Harbor Creek High School's production of
The Pajama Game.

Check it out this weekend if you are looking for something to do.
You could catch the later show tomorrow and wear your pajamas.
You'd fit right in!

It's getting late,
and I've been up since 4:00.
I'm getting ready for my bedtime story
and some nighty night myself.

Charlie Brown reads a bedtime story to Snoopy.

No Pajama Blog should end without a good bedtime story!
Here is the best story of the week--
Check out this genuine American Idol contestant Maddie Zahm.
This gal just radiates goodness.
I hope you fall in love with this story
as much as my family has.

Goodnight!
Eloise

Sweet dreams...
