Lesson 766: The Tibetan Secret

 Hello, Readers.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Here is your weekly trail of photos
representing my trail of thanks.
Eloise is thankful for much this year.

I doubt the Tibetans celebrate American Thanksgiving,
but they got it just right.

We ate double instead of half on Thursday.

We laughed triple.

We always love without measure.

I got us covered on the walking double part, too.
My winter walking challenge is leading us to Erie County trails.

We use this for our guide:

Erieites, how many of the 16 have you been to?

We checked out a few of the more remote trails,
but they weren't cleared from last week's snow.

Wednesday was very nice outside,
so we chose to take in the beauty of the calm lake

and hit this short trail.

More fun is ahead for the weekend.
Basketball kicked off with the annual team introduction
and the Alumni Game

Instead of Black Friday shopping,.
we saved our Christmas cash and decided to keep it local this year.
We are heading to North East this afternoon.

My girls and the Happy People Collection
will be at the Boston Bean coffee shop on Sunday from 10-2.

Seeing you there will make us
about as happy as Natalie's annual
Charlie Brown Thanksgiving themed charcuterie board.
Here is the making of it in action:

We one-upped the Tibetans there.
This is worth a quadruple joy.

Enjoy your weekend!

Lesson 765: Here We Snow Again

Hello, Readers.
Brrrrrrr!
The Lamp Post is blanketed under snow.

Stealing the words of local meteorologist, Tom DiVecchio,
Here we snow again!

I left for work under the soft pink
of the November sky

and I returned home to ice.

I actually caught the snow walls
moving across the lake

with Buffalo in their cross hairs.

Change is inevitable,
but also beautiful,
evidenced by the Clark School tree.

The Clark Schooligans
didn't mind the snow.
Out came the sleds,

and up went the snowmen.

My nature fascination this week is found
hanging above Firman Road

This wasp nest
hangs
from

branch.
How long can it hold?

I'm glad I live where the seasons change.

Without change

life would be boring.

She's never bored.
She's working more Happy People Merch.
for the Boston Bean coffee shop in North East,
available November 27th.
Here we snow again!

Lesson 764: Fading Daylight

Hello, Readers.

It's hard to believe we've come 'round to Friday once again.

It's the time of year that the daylight fades,
no matter how hard we try to save it.

I spend more of my waking hours at the Lamp Post
in the dark.

When I leave work,
long shadows fall across the school lawn.

The sun  was setting in just the right way
to light up the tree in a glorious burnt orange.

The drive down Firman Road
heads into the setting sun
the fading light
matching my fading energy.

But, no time for tired
if I have a winter walking challenge to complete.
Busted out the Stormy Kromer.
my reflective jacket,
and hubby's bigfoot cap.

We headed out into the spooky,
dark night.
Or,
like 6:30 pm.

The winter 100 is nice
because you can set your own rules.

So yes,
Firman Road
and the Community Park paths
count as a hike in the winter.

The forest floor is really getting pretty.

I love the smell of this point in  the fall.

Fading light
summons the fading life in the leaves.

Cloud fronts loom low in the distance.

In the foreground
are two of my three walking partners.
The little brown one was out of the frame on a hard sniff.

There is still plenty of pretty left in the fall season

so get out there and appreciate it.

The Powder Puff volleyball game
was not pretty for the sophomore class.

Team Green lost to a rowdy bunch of seniors.

They had lots of fun though.

And that's the most important.

Have a fun weekend!
